Ryan,

The general consensus is the DL "must be" worse than the D/DS, due to its pentamirror and lower viewfinder magnification (0.85X instead of 0.95X). However, I've just compared 3 lenses (DA 18-55, FA*85/1.4 and K80-210/3.5) on DS and DL (same subject, same lighting, same hour and minute of the same day, etc.) and...

Believe it or not, the DL won over the DS rather easy. The higher brightness of the DL finder (despite the pentamirror) is probably due to its lower magnification combined with an improved focusing screen. That helps a lot in focusing the lenses manually, since the impression of focus/out of focus remains excellent in the DL finder, more than compensating for the lower magnification.

Despite my bias against the pentamirror, I have to admit the DL is a better tool for manual focus. YMMV, but I had to tell you my recent experience.

What's the consensus on using the DL instead of the D with all the "old lenses" (screwmount, M, K, A). Any different? I'm used to the D, but these prices on the DL are so low!

TIA,

-Ryan
