But surely there will be set top boxes or auxiliary anntennas with built
in digital-to-analog signal converters... no?

There already are for TVs but I haven't seen them for radios. Digital
radios are already selling well, here. Converters would, effectively,
be most of a digital radio and not cost-effective, so I think they will
not be put into production.
