Looks like in the US at least the Digital signal will be co-existent with the Analog signal. If you have analog gear you'll never know the digital data is there.

I have no idea where things stand in the U.S. regarding digital radio. I did just buy a Grundig Satellit 800 Millennium 2 1/2 years back, solely for shortwave. If that goes into obsolescence within the next 5 years... I'll be mad.
