I recently sought a camera for my father-in-law in that same
price-bracket. I also wanted him to have a decent wide-angle, but 28mm in
(cheaper) compact camera's is asking a lot, I found out.
Dpreview gives the Fujifilm E500, E510 and the Nikon Coolpix 5400 with
_your_ specs. For what it's worth: I finally settled on a 'special offer'
on the KM Dimage S414. It's only 35mm on the wide end, but he's happy, so
I'm happy...
