Over $100 sounds a bit steep, unless you're looking for a 72mm or above
diameter. Just a few months ago I purchased a 58mm Hoya R72 for about AUS
$60 give or take a couple of dollars, at my local Camera House. It isn't
labelled as multicoated, but it was the only R72 in their range anyway.
Hoya also have another IR Filter that cuts visible light to a much greater
degree, but it is many hundreds of dollars even in modest sizes. There's
also a Cokin filter, the 007, that cuts visible light better that the R72,
at not much different a price, although it was a new release and wasn't
available when I wanted it. I don't know if the Cokin's a glass or resin
filter, but I still would have preferred it for its reduced contamination
from visible light. Still, the Hoya does a good job, and if you capture in
colour you can get interesting duochrome effects by playing with the white
balance
