Seems you may have misunderstood me. What I am suggesting is that the sensor area is greater than the tiny red dot.
Hence my suggestion of taking a picture of a ruler at an angle to the camera and seeing precisely where in the marked the focus point is, or if it is even within the area marked on the screen.
