I bought my first Photoshop (4.0) in a similar way, only I had an existing
student purchase it for me. Paid around $ 150 USD, when it was going for
around $500.

I sign up for classes each semester, or at least one a semester. Now that
they have online classes, it's pretty easy. I have to spend about $80-100 a
class
(junior college) to get a student discount that usually saves me about
$300-400.

Actually, you can drop out before the drop deadline and get most of your
money back, but you still have proof that you are a student. However, that is
sneaky and when I've dropped it's really because I didn't want the class after
all. I suppose if one did that several semesters in a row, someone at the
college
might notice. But maybe not.
