My little old house has mostly newer wiring, a reasonable number of circuits and circuit breakers, but the main switch box still holds two 60 amp fuses. No problems so far. (Knocking on wood).
My original box had a 70 amp main breaker. It was perfectly adequate. The 100 amp circuit I replaced it with is also adequate, but I would now like a little more capacity.
