both:
The lighting seems a little too broad/flat for my taste. Both have limited modeling and a constrained tonal range. To me, that's the biggest problem with both of them.

upper photo:
Rendering on this one is a little hot and glarey. Nothing is actually burned, but I'd steepen the gamma curve in some spots and "print it down" a touch for more character.

lower photo:
Nicer pose and better modeling. A little more selective contrast in some spots, and a bit lighter rendering without hurting the blacks, would give it some sparkle.
