In reality it's a tiny little dead bug that was on the emulsion side of
one corner of my slide. Its body is all of 0.5mm long.

How do YOU define a "100% crop?"
100% of what?
A crop is choosing only a part of an image, as I have always understood it.
That being the case, the term "100% crop" doesn't mean anything to me.
Perhaps you can elucidate?
