BINGO! I changed the setting on the laptop to 32-bit, refreshed my browser, and the pixelation (i.e., "posterisation of smooth tones") is all gone. Thanks! I guess that still leaves the questions of 1) why it only does it when I insert the photo into a webpage, and 2) why some of my photos (albeit just a few) have this problem @ 16-bit, and some don't ... but I'm content for now to have "fixed" it on these two monitors.
