Subject: Re: GFM contest question

I did that in 2004 and got a speeding ticket (GFM to Boone). Got to watch
out for those country cops, they're not total hicks.

I flew in to Charlotte airport, having reserved a little tin canmobile for the drive to GFM. They pulled the old bait and switch, and for a mere $10.00 per day extra, they upgraded me to a small sport ute, on the premise it would have more power in the mountains. I'm not built size small, so I wasn't complaining about the extra size anyway. The instructions Bill Owens sent me for getting to GFM had me taking a couple of traffic congested freeways out to the interstate. Anyway, as soon as I was in clear traffic, I sped up to what is highway speed, according to what I am used to seeing on a speedometer. We drive a 110 on the highways around here, and I was cursing this bloody GMC because it wouldn't do more than 95. I figured it out after passing half a dozen cars and getting "the look" from each driver.....
