All that says to me is that your monitor is close to sRGB or that your PS colour work-space is set to your monitor profile. A non-CS aware Browser simply outputs the RAW RGB data to the screen driver so the colour space will be whatever the device colour space is, if that's sRGB then that's what it will be but it it isn't it won't be sRGB. My monitor (device profile) isn't sRGB so images mapped to sRGB look do look slightly different in my Browser.
