Well, I'm just lazy enuf, I guess, to keep using the USB cable(s) for image
file transfer, rather than getting a card reader (or, multiple card
readers).
Fred
I started using a card reader recently but it seems that the cable is always
with me in my laptop case and the card reader gets misplaced. 90% of my
shots have been downloaded with the cable. I know that's a wear on the
batteries.
Even though the card reader is faster, it requires the extra steps of 1)
taking the card out of the camera, 2) putting it in the reader, 3) telling
Windows to allow me to remove the device after the card has been copied, 4)
removing it from the reader, and 5) putting it back in the camera.
So not making a mountain out of a molehill, it's less complicated to
plug/unplug a cable than the above. I walk away when the thing is
downloading anyway and do something else so I really don't notice the speed
advantage of using the USB 2.0 card reader.
Now that I think about it, I actually prefer the fewer steps of using the
cable.
If I had multiple CF's to download it would be a different story, but unless
I'm out shooting for a couple of hours, there's just the one CF in the
camera...
