They'll work on Canon, there's a C/Y adaptor to EOS. Pretty popular
these days actually.

No. They bayonets are functionally almost identical but
dimensionally different. The K mount came from the
short-lived Zeiss/
Pentax collaboration that fell apart and left Zeiss to go to Yashica.
