A KA or KAF mount lens set to anything other the the "A" position on the aperture ring operates as if it were a K mount lens with respect to the exposure system.

Therefore, to obtain P-TTL flash metering (pre-flash), you must lock A lenses to the "A" position on the aperture ring and control the aperture with the body's controls.
