Charles,
You must have a bad battery.  I do not have the Delkins but I easily
get twice the number of shots off my Nexcell Li-ions.  Yes, viewing
images on the LCD is going to help drain the batteries but it still
seems that your batteries are not working as they should.

I am happy using the RCR-V3s because the self discharge is much less
than the NiMH's.  I cannot tell you how many times I grabbed a camera
that had dead batteries.   I also had problems with the *istD using
the onboard flash with NiMHs.  My batteries did not have the current
draw to properly charge the RTF and the camera would shut down.  The
RCR-V3s work fine.
