Aren't these the type of batteries that pentax recommends you NOT put in
your camera? I believe it was on this list that someone mentioned that
these batteries run "hotter", i.e. 1.7volts instead of 1.5 volts or
something like that, and they could ruin the AF motor.

This fall I decided to "go for it" and got the Delkin RCR-V3 batteries.
Well, after a few months, I am less than delighted.
First the good points:
1. Camera is snappy and responsive (autofocus motor is definitely
quicker)
2. Batteries last for a long time when not being used. Pull out the
camera after not using it for a week and it lights right up.
3. The camera never sags into the "battery depleted" when doing a
rapid series of shots. Never.
Now the bad points:
1. SLOW to charge (1.5 hrs per battery - x2= 3hrs for a full charge!)
2. When they're dead, they're instantly dead - you usually know you're
out of juice when you can focus and do a half-squeeze, but pushing the
shutter button the rest of the way down results in NOTHING happening.
3. (And this is the killer): I get about 220 shots off of a set.
I thought I had just done something wrong the last time they ran out so
quickly, so I started keeping notes about the date I charged 'em and
the frame count when they went in, and it's sadly consistent.
I had hoped that the two good points would be joined by "and I get
about 600+ shots off of each charge" and then I could have lived with
bad points #1 and 2. But no.
So now I'm back to seeing how well my Energizer 2500mAh batteries do,
with the Duracell 1-hour charger. I never really had measured how well
they held up.
I read stories about people getting 400-500 shots off of a charge and I
wonder if they ever use the preview screen. Could the fact that I
double-check most every shot really be killing the battery time that
much? I also do a lot of "vertical" shots and I go in and rotate them
before I download to the computer, but still....
Just thought I'd share with everyone here. I'm sure that there are a
lot of you thinking "well, I woulda TOLD you so..." but just in case
anyone is on the fence about doing something similar..... (sigh)
