Those pretty tomatoes are from Israel, as are many of our winter tomatoes. They're better than the hothouse tomatoes we used to get in the winter in that they have some flavor, but they're not very juicy, which probably helps give them a longer shelf life. I bought them because they were the prettiest I could find. The store (a pricey gourmet grocery) also had some tomatoes that were allegedly vine ripened from Mexico. They looked more like the ones I grow. Not very pretty, but very good to eat.
