Those were the some of the "lowest" SLR models
pentax ever made for people who wanted an
SLR but knew nothing about them essentially.
They always had higher models at the time those
were made that did offer the features more
experienced users wanted/needed so no harm done..
I would want the AE with a lock and exp compensation
is already a given isnt it?

I remember one camera they did that had a "backlight"
button as AE compensation that added 1.5 stops. that
was it. the model was the A3000 which was like a 
motordriven MV. No manual speeds!

I agree that it's pretty rare (and that it's pretty limiting, too), but I do
think that the MG, the MV, and the MV1 all had AE with no lock and no
compensation (although users could "fake" compensation with the ASA dial).
