So you like hyper manual. So do I but it would be much more convenient with
an aperture simulator, then it wouldn't make any more noise than using
it with
a A F or FA lens...

Even if full K compatibility was added I'd still use
the green button as I do now.
I can set the aperture I want, zoom in on the subject,
tap the button and it sets the proper shutter speed.
No fiddling with the dial and watching the little LEDs.
I can now shoot to my hearts content, not worrying
about things that would normally fool Av.
Only if _the light on my subject_ changes do I have to
adjust exposure with another quick tap on the button.
Works for me. Only in very quiet settings do I find
this a PITA, I then go to the more fiddly manual mode
with the lens set on A, or Av with a stop down
type/modified lens. All depends on the situation.
On some of my other bodies I use the exposure lock
button in a similar way, on most of them however the
EL clears either when the shutter is released or the
meter times out, with the green button the setting
stays put until _I_ tell it otherwise, I like that.

that's interesting, your in complete opposition to the "green button"
apologists who insist it's easy and not a big deal. What I want
is a higher model that supports all kmount lenses fully.
That would be nice feature, especially when you consider
that most pentax brand bayonet lenses are not A compatible.

Assuming the screw-mount adapter stays on the lens, and you have an
adapter
for each lens that needs one, I don't see where the big "pain
in the butt"
factor comes into play. Can anyone explain this a bit better for me?
One adaptor per camera body in use with a screw lens is required. Whilst
it's
recommended to mount the adaptor to the screw lens then mount the assembly
on
the K body when removing the lens you simply unscrew it as the
screw adaptor
becomes locked into the mount and has to be released. The normal lens
release
button does not work with the adaptor.
If you wished to fix a screw adaptor on each of your screw lenses
you'd need
to
remove the adaptor locking flange and fabricate a locking pin hole on each
lens
assembly that mimics those found on a regular K mount lens. It
sounds easier
than it is because a lot of the screw mount lenses don't seat flat on the
mount
so a piece needs to be added. More trouble than it's worth in the end. I
find
using anything but A compatible lenses on my *ist D a PITA.
