The Minolta system, which appears similar to this new Pentax system, does not need to know lens focal length. I tested the Maxxum 7D with a number of lenses mounted via adapters and it worked just fine, even with a 1000mm mirror lens. I found no difference in effectiveness between adapted lenses and Minolta lenses.

Maybe I am missing something, but I would assume that a 1mm displacement of the camera body would produce a 1mm shift in position of the image on the sensor, regardless of lens focal length.
