Why the bias against SD cards? They supposedly have superior
contacts. I can't think of any real advantage for CF cards.
They do. But it hardly matters. More new cameras using SD format
cards are being introduced than CF format cards, so the market is
moving in that direction, but there are plenty of CF using cameras
out there to ensure that they'll be around forever in practical
terms. I prefer the SD cards myself as they are easier to handle,
smaller, and have a physical write lock tab. But I have both formats
due to my other equipment.
Besides that, once you have a few Gbytes of card storage in whatever
format for a given camera it hardly matters any more. You just reuse
it for 100,000 or more cycles of capture and download. It's not like
film where you need an unending supply of fresh, new film to keep
going. Few will ever "wear out" a flash media card of any type
through normal use.
