Why the bias against SD cards? They supposedly have superior contacts. I can't think of any real advantage for CF cards.

They do. But it hardly matters. More new cameras using SD format cards are being introduced than CF format cards, so the market is moving in that direction, but there are plenty of CF using cameras out there to ensure that they'll be around forever in practical terms. I prefer the SD cards myself as they are easier to handle, smaller, and have a physical write lock tab. But I have both formats due to my other equipment.

Besides that, once you have a few Gbytes of card storage in whatever format for a given camera it hardly matters any more. You just reuse it for 100,000 or more cycles of capture and download. It's not like film where you need an unending supply of fresh, new film to keep going. Few will ever "wear out" a flash media card of any type through normal use.
