I don't have either of those products, however, I've heard some complaints from 
users about the use of the grip ball head for low level macro work - the design 
prevents you from getting as low as you can with a conventional ball head. 
I have a Bogen mini gear head I use when precise camera movement is required - 
macro's & landscapes for example - not a head for any kind of movement 
tracking. I have a Kirk Ballhead for those conditions.
IMHO, the mini gear head is hard to beat for macro work.

I have a Bogen 3221 for use with all my 35mm work, except with the 600, for 
that I have a Gitzo 1548.
