Exactly, this is one of the biggest advantages for me. >If you read my archiving workflow description a day or two back, >you'll see that my decision for the present has been to use the PEFs >as an archive repository, but do all work on the DNGs and archive >both. While this is redundant, it's a very secure way to operate. At >some point, however, I'll become annoyed at having all these PEF >files consuming space and I'll likely discard them. I started doing that when DNG first came out, but now with version 3.2 available, and NEVER having usied one of the old PEF's I have switched to a workflow where the PEF's are converted to DNG in batch, and the DNG's being backed up to two different external backup disks (USB 2.0) I keep the last couple of hundred PEF's arround 'just in case' but discard them as soon as I need the diskspace or when there are too many of them ... At the moment I do not archive the DNG's to DVD, since I have at least three copies on three different harddisks, but at some point I may, and then the smaller size of the DNG's is an advantage too ... Regards, JvW PS: Guess I have about 50Gb worth of DNG's at the moment ------------------------------------------------------------------ Jan van Wijk; http://www.dfsee.com/gallery
