Don;
Dump the 400/5.6 and its "okay results" and look for the 300/4 AF APO
Macro and a Sigma 1.4x EX TC. That gives you the equivalent of 420mm @
f5.6 and the results I've seen are better than the 400/5.6. The 300/4
is way beyond "okay." I'm very critical of poor lenses and found great
sharpness and no CA with the 300.

anything shot with the Pentax *ist D on these pages was done with the
Sigma 300 and 1.4x and/or 2x TCs
Of course I'm a big fan of long prime lenses. Never owned a long zoom.
