I'm starting to wonder about that too.
All the pro boys around here have gone to digital cameras already. My local
pro shop does keep some 120 film, but never more than a brick of any
particular emulsion.
220 is now a special order, as is sheet film, for the most part.
As an aside, I am still a week away from running the numbers for film
processing during this Christmas season as compared to last year, but I made
an intersting observation today.
When I order product,I place my final pre Christmas Kodak order sometime
early in the second week of December, and order enough product to take me
through to the middle of January. I ordered about the same amount of paper
and chemistry this year as last year.
I still have over half of it in my stockroom.
Film processing volumes are tanking, I suspect I am down at least 60% from
last year, and I was down somwhere around 25% from the year previous.
Last year, I was giving film five years as a consumer commodity, one easily
available.
I suspect it will be less than four years now.
