Be happy that you were on the Atlantic route. Flying from Australia to the
UK economy passengers are allowed 20kg checked and 6kg carry on plus one
coat, one book or magazine and one small camera bag. We flew to the UK last
August and this put a severe dent on what we could take and even more so on
what we could bring back. Postage isn't that cheap either, so stuff had to
be light or expensive enough to be worth keeping.

I flew Qantas but my return flight ended up being BA due to "code sharing".
The BA plane was shabby, the aircon broke down at Singapore and the food was
pretty drab. I was pretty unhappy by the time I got to Melbourne (a 23 hour
flight), but then found that the flight following us in had people fleeing
Bali after the latest round of bombings and my concerns seemed pretty small.

Nevertheless, I don't ever want to fly BA in economy again.
