As well as Charles' answer, here's another way to check:

Top left on the menu bar, click on the Apple logo, see and click on
'About This Mac'. When the About This Mac window opens, click on the
'More Info...' button and at the left of the next window, under
'Contents', see 'Network'. If the contents of Network aren't listed,
click on the small black triangle to view the contents. one of which
will say 'AirPort Card'. if the AirPort card is present, it will say.

The physical location is inside the computer (obviously ;-) but
removable if necessary.
