99% of my sailing has been on boats without any motor of any kind.
(the one exception being a friend's 36 footer; and the only time the
engine was used was docking it).
It's nice feeling when you realize you have the skill to beat up a
narrow channel and bring a boat to the dock under sail alone...
without wrecking it!
I've only experienced that feeling in a large boat a precious few times
but I know exactly what you mean. It's really exciting in a sixty
footer! I have sailed in small (less than 20') boats without engines a
lot but I've never seen a boat over twenty five or thirty feet that
doesn't have a motor (I know they must exist but I've never seen one).
