!!! What you want is a Moto Guzzi Convert. I read about one recently that is into seven figures on the odometer. Best kept secret in motorcycling.

And some BMWs.

Like cameras, it all depends who you speak too; one of my friends still
rides an MZ and would only ever have one of these or a CZ. My lasting regret
is never owning a Benelli or a Laverda. Doubt that will happen now.

I'm VMCC Marque Specialist for MZ. Just put four into the garage this morning. One of them, I did 90,000 miles on in just over five years. Apart from fuel and oil, the total cost in parts for that was probably less than £200.

Last Laverda I rode was a friend's 1200 (pre-Mirage) which was like a flying carpet between 60 and 90, impossible to ride smoothly at town speeds due an ignition design fault, vibrated like Thor's anvil at high speed and, unless you kept the chain unfeasibly tight, sawed a lump off the frame.

It's a buyers' market out there. K1200RT BMWs go for about £800 around here. A friend has just bought one of the first Honda Blackbirds for a little more than that.
