Yes they're a great drive, the main reason for me choosing Pioneer was the availability of RPC-1 firmware to have a region free setup in conjunction with a utility called Region Killer, Pioneer are always well supported in this respect. The main advantage I see with Plextor is the suite of tools supplied (Plextools) Excellent! If I had to have the best I would probably choose Plextor regardless of cost. BTW many of the early Plextor drives were rebadged Pioneer i.e. PLEXTOR PX-116A (OEM PIONEER DVD-120) PLEXTOR PX-116A2 (OEM PIONEER DVD-121) Not sure about later models. A contact of mine once told me the Plextor CD writers were actually made by Teac but I cannot confirm this. My first CD writer was a Ricoh 6201S c 1998 cost a fortune, when it expired I discovered it was actually OEM Phillips!!!
