Hi Sunny, I pretty much agree with all the comments made so far. A good tripod is an invaluable tool, you won't realise it until you use one for a while. Of the two brands mentioned, Bogen and Velbon, I use them both. Here are some comments on the ones I own.
Bogen 3001, Light but very sturdy, one of the least expensive full height tripods. Bogen 3021 BPRO, Heavier, sturdier, center column can be mounted horizontally (Very handy), a bit more expensive. Velbon ULTRA MAX i S, Tiny in size and weight (33 CM collapsed, 750 _Grams_!) Yet extends to full heighth, fairly sturdy, a backpackers dream. My "Always in the car" tripod. About $100.00, got mine mis-marked for $19.99! ;-) SLIK 450G, Lighter yet (33 CM collapsed, 500 Grams) extends to 'half heighth', about 84 CM, a good and inexpensive "Table Top" tripod, mine was $20.00, like new, on eekBay. Don't use this one much since I got the Velbon.
