It depends on the form of the lens. With huge lenses you'll see
the symbol blinking even at longer focal lenghts (again, with
the 24-90 the symbol keeps blinking until the lens is around
40mm...), while with the FA 28/2.8 there's no problem at all.
The FA series (and I guess the F series too) tells the body
about the safe range for the RTF (you'll probably will have
different results - but not too much - with the MZ-50 in this
regard because the flash stands a bit higher than in the Z-1p).

Ah yes, I'd forgotten about that. The FA 28-105 powerzoom isn't exactly small ;-) I'll check with the FA 28-70/4 tonight: that might be better.

Just checked: You were right, Gianfranco. The FA28-70/4 is good up to 28mm. Phew!
