Hmm, I must admit that I do *not* use a filter with this lens. I find it
much much better with flare that way. Having said that, if I ever shoot
with sun onto the front of any lens, I'll flag it, either with a piece of
card, or my hand.
I'm always wary about not using a filter, even a UV just for front
element protection. If it's gonna happen, it's gonna happen...
