With the SMC A 50 f/1.7, my *ist DS w/ firmware 2.00 only uses central AF point, too. The AF point selection modes control in the Capture menu is disabled (geyed), and I can't select any other from the pad. Although I can't figure out any reason why it is so, the *ist limits itself to central AF point with non-AF lenses...
