I think the best deal I ever got was at a yard sale, about 7 years ago. Actually, it was my father who made the purchase, then he gave the items to me: Spotmatic SP500, Super Tak f2.0 55mm, Takumar f3.5 200mm (pre-set aperture) All for $20 Cdn. The only problem was that the meter appeared to be not working. I looked at it, changed the plastic collar on the battery so that the polarity was correct, and it's been working like a charm ever since. That was my first Pentax ever. When I bought my first SLR, back around 1970, I wanted a Spotmatic, but couldn't afford one, so I got a Praktica, as they were cheap, and I figured that I could use the screwmount lenses on a Spotmatic if I could ever afford one. I had long since had my Praktica stuff stolen, and was camera-less at the time of the yard-sale purchase. My dad got the stuff for me as he remembered how much I wanted a Spottie back in the day. Just think, had he not bought the stuff on a whim, I might not be on this list today. So, you can blame him for me being here <g>. And, that's the story of my best deal ever. cheers, frank ps: I know I've told the list about this before.
