Would think evaluating the exposure would be somewhat monitor dependent
and to a large extent, subjective.
Recently sent a lens to Pentax for repair due to the aperture sticking
at the f/11 setting. Suspicions were verified by shooting a roll of
film while going through all f-stops. f/16 and smaller apertures were
progressively blown out.
I know, peering through the lens while changing f-stops would have
saved the roll of film.
