With clouds like in Boris' shot, it is not uncommon that the light takes on a very warm hue in summer, even at 10 or 11 a.m., which was the time when this was shot, iirc. I have some shots from the same time and location (made with a 400mm on *istD) that shows the same. His choice of film may have exaggerated the effect slightly, but not much I think.
