My tests showed the DA14 to be be greatly superior to the A15 in
sharpness, clarity, contrast, and freedom from distortion on my
*ist- D. Thinking my A15 might need repair and/or recollimation, I
sent it to Pentax for service (twice), but I saw little
improvement. It works OK on film, but on digital I'll take the
DA14 any day
I expect I'll come to like the thing then.
I notice the manual focus seems quite stiff. Is this normal?
Funny, I had never checked this as I use AF most on the time - my
eyes aren't what they used to be, Yes, it is a bit stiff and it
feels somewhat "gritty" - probably the gears. It's significantly
stiffer compared to my A15.
All in all I prefer the stiffness to the sloppy feel of MF on some of
my FA lenses, like the FA135/2.8.
