Does anyone know if the Vivitar 24mm/2.8 is any good? How does it
compare to, say, the K24mm/3.5?
I had a Vivitar 24/2.8 once. It was about 10 years ago and I didn't have
a Pentax 24 for comparison so I can't really tell you how it rates on
that basis. Compounding the problem is the fact there may have been
several suppliers who made 24mm lenses for Vivitar (that was certainly
the case for most of their other lenses).
Not sure about this particular one. As others have said, the
Vivitar stuff was made by lots of different companies.
I've got a Kiron-built 28mm f/2.0 Vivitar that is OK. I got it
specifically because it's fast, but the softness and flare is unacceptable
at f/2. By f/2.8 it's tightened up a lot and by f/4 it's quite nice.
