And frankly, I think this is not such a big issue as they try to make
it look. I believe there has been an issue with Nikon files, but that
was the exception, no? As far as I'm concerned, my PEF files are
pretty much TIFF standard, and it is easy to write software that reads
them (I did, hacking into some TIFF Python modules.)

It would be nice if the whole industry standarized with DNG or
something, but i's not like manufacturers are trying to keep people
from reading their camera's files.
