It is very possible it will use 10 MPix sensor from Sony - the same as the
one used in Neekon D200. Contrary to CMOS and LBCAST sensors used in D2
series, sensor used in D200 ic CCD - this means that it could be only
developed by the company which had experience in this much more complicated
than CMOS variations technology. So it wasn't for sure Nikon. At worst they
could only sign up agreement with Sony to not to sell these sensors to
anyone else for a period of one year or so. That would be good as this
sensor seems to have very good noise characteristics - I believe even better
than Sony's 6 MP CCD used in *istD - maybe Rob could confirm that as I sent
him a few samples from D200 at high isos.
