I have seen people discussing questions related to photography
at airports and other places (here and elsewhere),
but I haven't seen anybody discussing issue of photographing on/from
a commercial aircraft.
Almost always I have a camera with me (be it my SLR or a small point-and-shoot
camera).

So far (keeping my finngers crossed and knocking on the wood), -
I haven't had any problem with that (USA, Italy, Spain, Switzerland).
However, I remember that it was forbidden in the Soviet Union
(back in 80s, early 90s).
I didn't have any problem with that during my last trip to Russia though.

So, I am curious if anybody
a) knows what the official rules are in different (your) countries,
and
b) had any incidents/problems while taking pictures during the flight.

Thank you,

Igor
