Nowadays there are third-party outfits that specialise in taking cars off the factory transporter and cleaning and polishing them ready for showroom display. They also take care of any little dings & scrapes. If you take a close look in the dealership you can often see a little sticker on the car identifying the provider. The advice from one local club is that the first thing you should do, when you pick a car up from the dealership, is take a hammer to the hood. That way you won't be worrying about the finish, and instead can concentrate on enjoying driving the car.
