Apparently the FA* 300/2.8 and 250-600/5.6 remain in production.

And the FA* 600 F4 as well.
These lenses, if I understand correctly, are produced to meet
individual orders. I've never understood that. The metal parts
have to be stamped in advance and sitting around, don't they? Or
are the metal parts hand-machined and painted for each order?
Are the optics produced when the lens is ordered? Or are all the
parts sitting around, and just assembled when there is an order?
