Hi all,
I went to pick up a check from a client last week and when I got there
he was cleaning out the garage and asked if I wanted this and that, and I
said no, I don`t have room. I then said, if you any camera gear you want
to get rid of, let me know. He shook his head and said no, then a lightbulb
went off in his head and he started going through this old dufflebag and
comes up with a Spotmatic II with a SMCT 50mm 1.4, a Vivitar zoom,
and misc strobes, and says here, you can have it. I was dumbfounded.
It sure was nice of him! The Spotmatic II is in really good shape except
for the plastic meter activating lever was broke off. Shutter sounds good,
meter works.
The SMCT is fungus
ridden, but like new. He said he got the camera while in Viet Nam.
Part two: I won an auction on ebay today for a SMCT 50mm 1.4:
http://cgi.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1259409657
for $11 + $10 for shipping, and if it has good glass I`ll have Dean switch
glass into the other one with fungus. It would be worth it for me.
So far it has been a good week!
I have now gotten two Spotmatics from clients, although I paid for the
first one. Which makes me wonder, how many Spotmatics are just
sitting in someone's garage or closet? A million?
