This photo is really cool - but having that "AMERICAN EDITION" stamped across the front of it does the image a true injustice - I'm sure that was exactly Mr. Lanois' intent. "If you're not going to let me publish the cover the way I want to, I'll put a big ugly stamp on the front of it rather than changing the cover completely"

The (admittedly spooky) cover is an image called "The Knife" by Jan Saudek. This person's photos range from making me think "oooh, cool" to "whoa, that's way OUT there!".

I love Jan Saudek's work. He's a cultural icon in the Czech Republic. He has a number of books of his work, most of which are not seen in USA book stores. I've brought a few back from European trips.
