I sent an email to Pentax USA asking about the disposition of the DS2. I was told it's not been discontinued and that it's available in numerous stores. The list that the Pentax rep provided showed that the DS2 was unavailable in most of the stores listed.
Earlier I received a forwarded message that included a comment from a Pentax representative saying that the DS2 was, indeed, discontinued. John Celio, who works at a large-ish camera store in the area, says that dealers who have the DS2 are, ".... either importing them through a distributor or special ordering them from Pentax Japan. I asked my store's Pentax rep about the DS2 in December, and he said those are the only two ways we could get it if we wanted to stock it." So, three "expert" opinions, all different, and very few DS2's to be found. Mike, if you'd be kind enough to send or post the address of the Canadian guy, I'd appreciate it. There seems to be plenty of DS2's in Canada and I have a couple of questions re: warranty. BTW, I'd be just as happy with a DS ... and am tracking down a lead on one that supposedly has a good price.
