You're right of course. I have the DNG converter and sometimes use it
for files I'm archiving. Should have thought of that. Will do.

You can convert .PEF files to Adobe .DNG format using Adobe RAW
Converter (free software). If you can't find it on Adobe website - try
here http://www.dojarek.com/tmp/adobe_dng_converter.exe. DNG files are
about ~50-60% of original PEF size. The compression is loseless.
Or, you can use http://www.yousendit.com/ service.
