You're right of course. I have the DNG converter and sometimes use it for files I'm archiving. Should have thought of that. Will do.

Thank you, I've seen these photos - I read PDML quite regularly :). You can convert .PEF files to Adobe .DNG format using Adobe RAW Converter (free software). If you can't find it on Adobe website - try here http://www.dojarek.com/tmp/adobe_dng_converter.exe. DNG files are about ~50-60% of original PEF size. The compression is loseless.

Or, you can use http://www.yousendit.com/ service.
